  1. I admire your affinity to the abstract. Number five was my favorite for some reason...maybe I felt like I was a bug, but now I vote number 1 as your strongest with the first self portrait coming to a close second. That style is definitely working for you.

  2. Hey Allison, 10 ended up being my favorite. Im naturally attracted to nature so no surprise this was the one I enjoyed most. Im a huge fan of the idea of relection upon water, ,and I love the way we see the sky in the water. I thought capturing thought was really cool. I like the inclusion of the shoreline to the left, it adds a good break from the typical water shot. The lights and darks in this color go well to add a lot of depth here. You seem to have a good eye for nature shots, liked the posts a lot.

  3. Hello there Allison!

You've got an interesting eye, in regards to all of your compositions. But, 5x yes to #1. That right there is you're most mysterious photo. I stared at it for long than any other of your photos. It's so interesting to me. Even after looking at it for so long, I still can't quite make out how you went about framing this, whether it's from underneath a glass table or a reflection. I love that I can't tell. The 3 hot spots from ceiling lights (I'm assuming) and the smear from a drink (also assuming) add awesome texture, along with a texture of what looks like some sort of wood. Again I can't even tell and I love that. The foreground, middle ground and background all seem to be mixed together. I dig it.

  4. Hi Allison! Your photos are great!! I specifically like number 5 out of all of your photos. It really creates that "what the hell is this?" mystery and made me really look at it. The contrast is great, and the composition really makes the whole photo. Great job!!

  5. i love number 10! That spot in Tyler park is one of my favorites places, so thanks for bringing back some nice memories! In regards to this specific project my vote will go with number 1. Primarily because i have no idea whats going on, or what was shot and that's exactly what the assignment is. But i think it might be an old table, can you tell me?

  6. Hi Allison. You have some great pictures. I love the nature inspired ones alot! Keeping with the "mystery theme" I would have to pick #1 but seriously number 10 is beautifully shot. Great job.

  7. Hi Allison! You have some photos that really stand out to me. Those being #’s 1, 7, and 10. Of those three my vote is going to be for #1. It is so detailed and shouts at the viewers to keep looking. The mystery to me lies in what is happening around this photograph but not so much that I am disinterested. It is like the opening to a suspense novel. I want to keep reading.

The reflection is pretty great, I am wondering how the wood is as reflective as it is. Regardless, you had an eye for it and created something special out of it. The textures on the wood surface also do a good job at reeling me in – the scratches, spill and smudges.

Notes on my other favorites: In #10 I love how your focus was on the reflection of the sky rather than the actual sky. You got great detail in the water which is very intriguing. For #7 I am curious as to what is going on and how you created this shot- even if this doesn’t make your POW I would definitely suggest it for a recipe.

I look forward to more of your photos!

  8. Hi Allison,

You did a wonderful job on this assignment. #1 I thought was a really cool image. I'm not really sure how you set up the shot or what you used, but kudos! Even though photo #1 was so awesome, I think my favorite picture of yours was actually #7, one of your self-portraits. I like how made it look like your superimposed yourself over the background in the image, which I believe is a cement wall. This photo really intrigued me and I think it made me think about how you see yourself to make your self-portrait look the way it does. It is a little insight to your inner thoughts and that is very impressive.

Good job and keep up to great work!

  9. Hello Allison~

As far as mystery goes, I think #7 is your best photo. The fogginess and blurriness in the photo really create the mystery. It creates questions like; where are you? how are you taking the picture?

The b&w contrast paired with the blurriness creates different shadows and shapes in the photograph which is really neat. The feeling of the photo to me feels a little melancholy and content. It's interesting that you can only see the subjects eyes because that is really the only connection to the picture since everything else is blurred out. Great job!

  10. Allison -

Photo number one of yours is really great. The reflection in the wood is really interesting and makes me wonder where you took that picture. I think that the composition of your pictures is really nice and you did a great job of capturing mystery throughout.

  11. Very outdoorsy and natural set of photos. My favorite one is your self portrait, #7. The mystery in it because of the blurriness that hides some of your face is cool. I'm not sure the exact effect or if that is the photo itself but you captured it very well. Great use of light in your photos. Nice contrast of colors and the shadows created.

  12. good cohesive set of photos here. number is my favorite, its pretty trippy. i like the contrast in most of these photos. i think you should try expanding on content, try looking up more than down. only thing i would add would be the mystery aspect to the assignment, most of these are pretty obvious. overall good job.

  13. Allison-
You found awesome things to take pictures of and were able to get up close to the subject while still keeping the subject clear. You did a great job on framing and I would have to say my favorite picture would have to be number five partly because of the angle at which you took the picture at. But I really do enjoy all of your photos.
