Hi Breanna, The photo that I continuously was brought back to your in your collection was #6. There are a couple qualities that interest me about this photograph, one of them being the relationship between the lines and colors that is unique to this one in your B&W collection.
I am brought into the center of this photo from all directions, especially the one piece of grass that you focused your camera on. My eyes catch on and follow it down into the photo where I am then intrigued by the lines and equal parts of different shades and how they fill the space in this photo.
I find it interesting how the water on the grass appears so much darker than I would imagine. It makes me wonder more about the photo, what is that liquid – maybe it isn’t water. I think if this photo was in color it wouldn’t work as well in that favor. That being said, you did a good job at doing the task at hand by using B&W to emulate mystery.
The motivation behind this photo is also a mystery to me but it’s also what keeps me looking at it. The vast variety of shades makes it a little more difficult to differentiate between things, but the contrast is enough to keep eye-catching.
Hey Breanna, the photo that interested me the most was 12. An overall dark photo with just enough light to make it really come to life. I like the change in pace in regards to a self portrait. I'm a big fan of tattoos which just barely make their way into the photo which was cool. Just looking at the photo brings a sense of coziness with the coffee laying in bed. Although maybe no mystery directly in the picture, it still is a mystery to me because it seems like the start to a day, which makes you wonder what's to come. well done.
You've got some really great compositions here. But, I have to say the ones that instantly caught my eye were 10 & 11. I spent a good minute looking at each of them. They may very mysterious in terms of me having the think about what it is exactly that I am looking at, they still provoke a sense of mystery in terms of reflection. I just sat here thinking about the idea and meaning of both compositions. That also may have to so with the fact that I am listening to This Will Destroy You as I comment on everyone's photos, who knows.
In number 11 especially, I think the depth of field and the blinds creating these lines that lead me towards the other end of the frame work wonders. The sun shining through the small slit of the blinds, give off a lens flair and add light to the shadows of the blinds above it, providing great separation. I can dig it.
Breanna- Although I am not sure what it is, I really enjoy picture 8. It almost reminds me of an iSPY book. I found myself squinting to see what was behind the large item that you photographed to find a person. I also enjoy how the stairs in the background fade from left to right.
Breanna, I really loved all your shots. I love the depth in the first one. It would definitely be my favorite. I also liked the way you shot number 15. Not a typical selfie, great job.
Breanna, these are stunning. I'm having a hard time picking a favorite but I'm going to go with #2, since I needed to look twice before noticing the statue and that really added an element of mystery. Great photos!
Your pictures are beautiful. My favorite is number six. I love the water droplets that you can see and the way that the light is reflecting off of them . Great contrast of light and dark.
My favorite photo is #6. I like the clarity in the middle that blurs out toward the edges. The colors between light and dark are great also. I like the lines in a lot of your photos. Very sleek and modern but still contrasts with light.
I really enjoyed how you deconstructed each item. By only showing the viewer a piece the greater picture you create a sense of mystery that leads the viewer to fill in the blanks themselves. The different angles add to this aesthetic.
I enjoyed photograph number 2 the most. I really like the texture in the gate. The color tone also adds a rustic feel to it
Such great close up photos and great subject matter. The way you framed each picture made them more abstract and interesting. I enjoyed the way you used light in these photos and if I had to pick a favorite I would have to say number two because it leaves me wondering and thinking about if we are being locked out or is something being locked in.
