David, I am going to say it again! I enjoy your unique style. Your photos stand out from the crowd in the subject matter and your overall perspective. This is something I really enjoyed seeing every critique. Not to mention, you did a great job at organizing your final portfolio. There was very nice flow from one photo to the next. I think that your photos tell us something about you that is less apparent in other people's work. I feel like I know something about you from looking at your collections. Its a nice change. The photo that still stands out to me is the third photo down from you "Figures" chapter. I am still intrigued by this photo. I think it incorporates a piece of you as well as combines a perfect combination of aspects we learned in class. The perspective, composition and abstraction are all successful aspects here and I think this photo does a good job at describing your style and your skill. Overall, Good job!
David, this is a wonderfully portfolio (content and organization)! It captures your style perfectly, making you stand out from all the rest. Each assignment, I was continually impressed by your work, and this is no exception. Your 'Figures' chapter is my favorite of the five. Every photograph in that chapter has something that stands out to me. My vote for your POY is (and I fought real hard not to choose it, but I couldn't help it) the first one of the 'Figures' chapter. The reason I didn't want to choose it was because the sky, being as prominent in the photo as it is, is a bit of a cliche, in terms of what our guidelines were for this class, but I couldn't help it. The sky gives off such a radiant light. It could have been in B&W and I still would have loved it. It's not about the color, it's all about the light in this one - the way it back lights your three subjects, blacking out their features and the way it reflects off the roof top. I love it.
David, I like the way that your portfolio is grouped, simple and easy to follow. I think you have a style that differentiates from most which is always a good thing. The way these photos are sectioned allows for good flow throughout viewing. My POY has to go to the chapter figures 1 picture 1. I think I voted on this as POW prior too. I just love the colors that are created in the sky and the light versus dark that is created. The scenery that lies behind adds a cool effect as well. Overall I really enjoyed your work throughout the semester and thought you did a great job overall.
Great job on the final portfolio! Again, your style of photography is very well defined and interesting. I like that you gravitated toward photographing urban decay as opposed to graffiti. I'm going to vote your POY as the B&W elmo. I say that because initially it's a funny or cute picture. However, the moment I asked myself why that toy was stuck in the wire and who it belonged to, the photograph took on an entirely new meaning. It asks viewers to create a story. Overall, great work.
Hi David, I really enjoyed your work this semester! You have some stunning outdoor and color photographs. You really achieved a high level of vibrancy as well as unique style that is your own. I really enjoy your posed photographs of people. I think photoshoots is your calling! Some of these shots look like they could seriously be used as album covers or on posters. With that in mind, number one in figures is my favorite and has my vote for POY. True, it is not necessarily "fine art", but I think it has value nonetheless. If anything, you can actually do something with shots such as this one- $$!! It really is an incredible shot. Nice work!
David, I like how you put together your portfolio! I will have to say, I like your whole set for Outdoors, but I'm going to have to go with #1 in Figures for your POY. It has a great use of color. I also like the mystery behind the people and scene- who they are, what they're doing, where they are, etc. It reminds me of a music album cover! You have a city-street style and I love that about all of your photos. You have a specific style that you stick with, so your photos all go very well together. Great job in your portfolio, as well as this whole semester!
I really enjoyed all of these photos. Your photos have been one of my favorites throughout the semester. y favorite chapter is the texture one. I've always wanted to create a collection of textures. Your chapter inspires me to do so. My vote for POY is number 4 from the Outdoor chapter.
Keeping it simple- and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Your portfolio is straight to the point, much like your work has been all semester. Great way to show your photos. My favorite chapter is number one: outdoors. The vibrant colors captured are great. My favorite photo overall is the skateboard one. I like how you captured the person mid jump and how the brightness varies throughout the photo.
David, My favorite chapter is your "figures" chapter. I really like what the chapter entails, lots of color and people. Seems like this is something that you really enjoy shooting. Bringing me to the third photograph in this chapter being your POY. Doesn't look familiar which leads me to believe that you added this specifically for the portfolio, great work. When I look at this photograph part of me wonders if you have a rebellious side and stomped on the mirror with your feet. Either way, the broken mirror shows how ones life can be cracked into pieces at some points and that if you don't loose any of the pieces you can be put back together. I think this photograph can create a lot of meaning for anyone who views it and that is why I vote for it as your POY. Nice work putting your portfolio together. I hope you had fun this semester!
David, Nice set of pictures. I feel like I may have overlooked some of these this semester and I am disappointed that I did, you have some really nice stuff. I would have to go with #4 from your first chapter as my pic for POY. You captured such a great shot at just the right moment from an awesome angle!
David, Great work this year in taking all of your photos. I remember liking to see what the inside of a studio looks like. I've personally never been inside one before, so it was cool to see for me. My POY is the second picture in the black and white chapter. I think it is really hard to see what is going on and that adds to the mysterious element that I think you are going for. Great work again!
