Hi Alexandra, my favorite of your photographs here are between numbers 2 and 10 and both for completely different reasons.
What I appreciate about number 2 is the fact that you captured a wide range of color without over saturating. There also seems to be the grain overlaying the entire photograph, which I think is a bit strong and would look better is it were more subtle, but I was looking past that and focusing more on the color range. I love how the color of the sky reflects on the water in the foreground and how the sun casts this orange-ish glow over the tree line in the background.
With number 10 I was immediately reminded of something out of a horror film like The Shining and I think that is why I like it the most. It instantly put me into eerie that mindset, with the high angle frame with what looks to be two practical lights blown out combined with the dark colored staircase and the light colored walls.
Nice work this week, Number 1 instantly caught my eye because I took a similar photo. Fall is my favorite season and I just love pumpkins ! The filter that was used is unique as it makes the pumpkins not look so new and bright (very different from mine). Very cool!
My POW is number 3, AWESOME! I would have never thought of such a creative way to capture light. The ice cubes look as if they are independently floating in air with the way the lighting is and the angle that this photo was taken. This is by far my favorite of the bunch.
Also, I noticed how you included some nice nighttime photos which I was unable to do, this is cool. You have a nice variety in this weeks color/passion photos!
Alexandra, I love the dreamy feel that many of your photos have. You really have the editing down. Many of them feel like they came from a film camera and I think it’s neat you can get that effect from a smartphone but also keep them looking natural. I think #3 is my favorite. It just feels mysterious and a little cloudy and I love that. It probably wouldn’t be as effective in color. I think if you did more photos like the first three you could really enhance your portfolio for the end of the semester! Try more edits like that, I think those are your strongest. Nice work!
Hi Alexandra, Lovin' the drama here! The pumpkins are appropriately festive! I enjoy this particular photo of pumpkins more so than others...perhaps its the desaturation and white glow. I can imagine them in motion, falling into a dark abyss...ha, cool. Number three is intriguing. Ice cubes? I love the grain and greyscale. Number ten is very mysterious...I really enjoy the upward slope of the stairs. That angle is so stimulating as it draws the eye's attention up and down the photograph. Number three is my favorite!
10 has my vote for POW it just gives off a mysterious type of vibe that you cant ignore while passing through. I think its a great photo with this time of year approaching! I think some photos could use a little less saturation but overall the pictures came out well for this set. The ice cubes picture was also very cool and was a close second for my vote of picture of the week.
I think #10 is my POW. It has really nice lighting, the yellow toning gives off a mysterious vibe, but towards the top of the stairs when the color brightens up it feels a bit more passionate. The leadings lines going to the stairs are eye catching.
My POW is picture 1. I love the contrast. The toned down color gives a very ethereal feel to the image. I also liked that you toned down the color slightly in the picture. I also enjoyed the flow of the pictures that you created by ordering them the way that you did. Good job!
