  1. Hi Allison! It is nice to see that some of your photos burst with color and you were able to capture that without them looking over saturated. The photo that I like the most from your collection was #5 the yellow slide. The monochromatic color works well in this photo, the way the light and shadow creates various tints and tones of yellow ranging from near black to the lightest highlight. I feel that this gives a simple photo more to look at. Another great thing you did was capture this at a unique angle so that we aren’t looking at it from our usual perspective. The curvature of the slide keeps me engaged and curious.
I feel that you were able to combine both the lesson on B&W – Mystery with Color – Passion here. Photo #5 makes me wonder when someone is going to come speeding down the slide. The angle, subject matter and use of light really work well together to create a reaction from your audience.

  2. Oh Allison, I am in love with these pictures. I have to agree with Brooke my fav is definitely #5. The single color, not over saturated, makes me stop and thinks but instantly brings a smile to my face when I realized what it was. The emotion that is created by this simple picture is great. I loved the mystery behind # 1,3 and 4 as well. #1 I feel like I am looking into a sea of pink water and at a puzzle at the same time. I still can't actually figure out what I am looking at, same with #3 and #4. Your use of single color, the distance and the angle you took these really keeps me guessing. Great Job. (Also, where did you take #12 & 13, looks like an awesome place to explore!)

  3. There are some pretty sweet photos in this set. I enjoy #1, #5, and #7 the most. #1 connects with me because this effect reminds me of My Bloody Valentine's "Loveless" album cover (check it out). I enjoy more of the abstract approaches you took with the first half of the set more than the second half. There's just something about the way you edited #5 that gets my attention. Even though its monochromatic it has a nice vibe to it and creates a nice composition. #7 is cool because I like shapes in photos and there's a lot going on with that one. The lighting is already really cool. It'd be cool to see you get more abstract with the self portraits. A lot of these fit the mystery assignment we just had. Overall, good stuff.

  4. Hello! i really enjoyed your set. As a whole, you had an array of different types of shots, most of which really burst with color and passion, I love when i see so many photos that follow the assignment haha! My vote will have to go with #5. I love how the whole frame is taken up with the bright yellow slide. I also like how it looks glossy, that adds a nice natural effect to the shot.

  5. I really enjoyed #4 and actually took a very similar shot that I didn't end up posting to my blog. The green and yellows in the photo look awesome. Overall I feel as though you did a great job capturing color and passion in your photographs for this unit. You did a lot of very different things and your pictures stand out well, very interesting.

  6. Allison-
You have an overall awesome set. Great composition in all of them.
#5 was my favorite. It gave me a sense of nostalgia and happiness like a little kid because of the fact that you had to climb the slide to take the photo. The tight frame keeps that sense of mystery that made me really look at it before I noticed what it really was. Great job.

  7. You an amazing job at breaking apart ordinary items and focusing on one detail. This changes the nature of item completely and makes it into some thing unique and engaging. I love #1, you can tell that it's just a bin filled with items but not until you scrutinize it. You know how to get your audience to think. I'd have to say that #5 is my favorite photo, though. Breaking apart the slide into geometric shapes was a smart move and you can tell you thought about it before taking the photo.

    Great job.

  8. Allison, you definitely nailed the monochrome photos. It was a cool way to look at images by getting so close up to them. The one looks like soda while the other one looks like a soda bottle. Putting a zoomed in view of the bottle is very cool. I think I would have to say that number 4 is my favorite. Some of my comments said I need to find more passion in my photos and I feel the same for you. They are artistic photos but don't seem to have much passion behind them. Good job.

  9. Allison,
I love all of your photos. You totally captured what this assignment was looking for. You were able to find the color in ways without using a lot of filters to bring that color to life. I like how you took a lot of close-ups of subjects instead of just trying to find colorful items. It seems that you almost combined the last assignment with this assignment, with including the element of mystery. My favorite photo of yours would have to be #4.
    Keep up the great work!

  10. Hi Allison! This week I think you did a great job of displaying the theme: color. Interesting how a lot your photos had just the one color yet still caught my attention. My favorite was #3: to be honest, it kind of grossed me out (I have an issue with a bunch of circles lol) but yet the mystery of trying to figure out what the heck it is left me still peeking to figure it out (which I still haven't). Great job of capturing shots that encompassed themes from the last two topics!

  11. Allison -

Beautiful work! You did a great job of capturing the theme of the week with the color in your photographs. I loved two and three in particular but three is definitely my favorite. I love that you have to think about what it is. It reminded me of a squids tentacles. Still not sure what it could be! So number three gets my vote for POW.

  12. Hi Allison,
Really great photos this week. I enjoy your use of making objects look abstract. Your first few photos demonstrated this, especially photos 1,2,3, 5, and 6. Although there is only one main color in some of these photos, you captured the passion the color and object gives off.

Overall my favorite photo is #9. Its unique angle and layers of rain/ fence/ window? create a mysterious passion. The diagonal line that is created from the sky and fence make me wonder, where did you take this picture from? I like the composition and how you desaturated the color instead of bumping it up, it helps with the tone of the photograph.
