Hi Brooke! Like last time, I love all of your pictures, I am a nature lover and so seeing all the colors that nature has to offer really appeals to me. Your "selfies" are always so creative. I love the fogged up mirror. My selfies this crit sort of focused on the way we see ourselves in sort of a distorted view, I feel like the fogged mirror runs along the same line. It you but it's not really you. (Sorry if none of that makes sense I know what I am trying to say in my head!) #15, the rose, keeps catching my eye, the focus on the rose and the reflection from the glass it is on keeps playing tricks on me, I like it! I also like the mystery of #8 but I would have to pick #11 as my favorite. I am sure it is just the lighting or the angle you captured the picture at but I feel like the lower left corner starts out black and white then it changes to color as your eyes move across the picture. Great job capturing natural color !
Brooke, your color representation is fabulous without being blown out. Numbers 11 and 12 are by far my favorite of the bunch. I don't want to choose which I like better. Both of them have interesting angles and great framing.
You really captured the color and texture of the buildings in 11. And the, reflection of the sky in the windows! That is just great, I almost missed that detail until right now as I am writing this. I love that the red color of the buildings is not over saturated, which I see too often in photographs of red brick buildings. This is just an all around cleanly taken photograph.
What I love about number 12 is the lack of colors. Then majority of the photo has a color range that stays within the browns, both light and dark. The composition itself is very interesting. The overhead angle puts me in this unsettling point of view, like I'm watching without the subject being aware I am there. The subject itself reminds me of days where I am just sitting at my desk late at night with my desk lamp the only light on, overwhelmed and stressed with work that I need to be completing.
First of all I would like to say that I enjoy whatever process/apps you used to edit this set down. This set seems to be the most balanced and focused as far as a cohesive set of photos. Very realistic. You can tell a lot of these were enhanced but for the benefit of the photo, its not overpowering at all. #14 is a cool self portrait. There's something about #5 that makes me happy. Maybe I just like the color yellow this week. I think a lot of these are clean photos. The only thing I would say is to maybe try for a more intentional composition. Maybe experiment with angles and all that good stuff. Overall nice job.
Brooke- Your self portrait, number 14, is so unique. I would have never thought of this. How creative it is that you used a foggy mirror. I think its awesome! I really enjoy photo 13 as well, even though the cup seems to be alone, it is not, the coffee shop or wherever this is taken has company but the focus is on the cup so without looking around you don't realize. The lighting in the background eliminates looking any further than the crowed and I like that. My POW would be number 3, nature is simply beautiful. You have shot a lovely photo of the trees that allows the sun to only emphasize some of the leaves and not all. I enjoy the angle you shot this photo at and the content.
I like that your set has a very distinct theme of nature in many of them and shows that you have passion for it! The desaturation throughout works really well and you don’t abuse color at all. I really enjoyed the pop of color about halfway through the set with the yellow coffee cup in #6, that was a nice touch. You have a pretty solid color palette as well, which isn’t seen so much in the other sets. Overall I’d have to say that my favorite shot of yours is #12. It’s a great self portrait with wonderful soft light. I feel like you had a vision for this one and worked to get it framed properly. Nice work!
10 had my vote for POW until i saw number 15. Immediately the pictures seem to jump off the screen in front of me. The shadow that's cast that reflects on top of the glass table gives this photo a really cool feel. This picture for me defines the assignment of color and passion, its very well done. The back drop also adds depth that gets your attention.Your editing is well done, the pictures are enhanced just enough but not to much so you don't see the negative effects of over saturation etc. Very good set, i really enjoyed your photos for this unit.
I really like your pics this week. The photos have a sort of blurred quality that works. The lines being less distinct allows the photo to fluidly flow. The best photo I think is #15. The colors pop right away. As I look through each photo set, I scroll quickly until one stands out way more than the rest and for your set it was #15. The colors are punctual yet fit together in one piece. I really like the lines as the back drop and how they are reflected and contrasting against the light. Great work!
I loved looking through for pictures. The way they are organized has a really nice flow. i also like that you did not over saturate the color. Something else I liked was the images of nature, as that is my favorite place to be. While they are all really great, my favorite of yours is number 10. I really liked the contrast of light and dark in this image.
