  1. Chelsea, The photo I vote for is # 12. It stood right out to me! Actually it reminds me of one day in my high school art class when we went outside and sat around drawing trees with charcoal. I sat right underneath one like this and drew it from this angle. I still have it! Anyway, I do enjoy the angle. It is not one people normal choose to focus on when they look at a tree. I like how you enclosed the tree so that the branches extend out to touch every edge of the frame. The layers of texture also do wonders for my eyes – the bark, the leaves and then the sky. Mother Nature really lends itself to you here. The only thing I would suggest is maybe trying to convey more of an emotional context behind your photos.

  2. Nice variet of content in this set. Immediately #5 caught my eye. I love the colors in this. Very complimentary. I like the realisic approach to these photos. A lot of these photos are close up, maybe try experimenting with different angles and distances? Overall there's a good variety of stuff going on. #12 is also very sharp. But personally, my favorite (vote for POW) is #5.

  3. Hi Chelsea!
I am loving your playful tone in this crit! Number two is pretty awesome. The partial submersion of the polar bear and and the electric blue tone water are astonishing. I want to be there. The hand on the glass adds another little fun dynamic. Number four makes me crave cotton candy. Number five's flowy forms are really interesting, but I feel that I would like it more if I didn't know that it was a car. I love the texture of the tree bark in number twelve, but number eleven is my favorite. That sky is incredible. Very nice shot. Def the POW.

  4. Hi Chelsea, i really enjoyed numbers 2 and 6. I think number two did a nice job capturing interesting colors and the passion portion of the assignment, that part was hard for me so nice job. It's just cool how it looks like the bear is looking right at the child, whose hand you so cleverly captured as well. I enjoyed 6 because although it may be a little cliche, i enjoy old signage and you took it with an interesting angle as well. Nice work

  5. Chelsea-
#12 was definitely my favorite. Amazing composition and great color contrast without being too saturated. It gives me the feeling of just laying in the grass, listening to music, and looking up at the trees and the sky. It's calming, and hold that idea of passion. Awesome job! However, I would try to keep that sense of mystery through your other photos. Some are pretty straight forward and didn't hold my attention as much. Good job though.

  6. #2 has my vote for POW i might be a little bias here because i love polar bears. However the divide between the water and air adds an extremely cool aspect in this photo that i really enjoyed. Also this picture was taken at a really cool moment with the hand up on the glass and the polar bear looking directly at it, very cool! I also think the reflection on the glass adds another cool dynamic, all in all this picture seems to capture a lot of great color and passion, with that being the assignment well done. 12 was a close second, its also an amazing photo.

  7. For my POW, I would have to vote for #12. It's so natural and the way that you angle the camera is pretty cool in my opinion. I like how you had major color contrast in a lot of your photos without having to filter for that contrast. I like your photos are very eclectic and seem to not relate to one another. They all seem to stand alone and that is strong. Good job with your work and keep it up.

  8. Great photos, although for some reason a few of them wouldn't load for me. My favorite would be #12. I like the color in it, even though the photo doesn't have many colors. I also like the angle at which it was captured: not the traditional straight on shot, which allowed you to capture a side of the tree we wouldn't have otherwise seen. Also gave you nice angles and lines because of the branches. I

  9. Chelsea -

Great pictures. Numbers 2 and 12 were my favorites of yours. I love in 2 the interaction between the child and the polar bear and the brightness of the water in the background. My POW would have to be number 12. I love the angle and the brightness of the sky peaking through the branches of the tree.

  10. Chelsea-

Number 12 is my POW for this set of photos. The compostion is nice, althought the tree is centered perfectly I like the angle. It creates a different perspective than most tree pictures. The colors and texture create a passion for climbing the tree. I have the urge to jump in the picture and drink some lemonade under it's branches. Overall, great photos! The only thing I would work on is creating more emotional connections throughout the photos.
