  1. I vote #6 for POW. It was a hard choice, I really enjoy a lot of these photos. Lots of experimentation going on which I like. I like the more tonal color treatment you went with for #3, #4, and #5. I think you got a lot of interesting compositions as well as a good idea of what to shoot. Some of them feel a little overwhelming but overall I do enjoy this photo set. Good job.

  2. I vote for number 14 for photo of the week. Your photos are cohesive enough to work together as a set. They look like they've been taken straight from a movie. You've put thought in how you've curated the set. It progresses from calm and natural to straight up creepy. You've managed to create a dismal tone while capturing the richness of color

Great job this week! Photo number 1 is perfect. The contrast between the red apples and the blue sky is what instantly draws the viewer in. Then focusing in more, the reflections of light of the apples and leaves just makes the photo even better. The angle that you took this at is great and makes the photo really come together. This looks like such a perfect day.

Photo 5, is this taken on a spider web? Such a creative photo. I really enjoy this photo.

I am dying to know how you shot number 11, great self portrait. So mysterious but beautiful at the same time.

    12 ! Scary !

My POW is 14. This is sincerely such a strong photo. The angle makes it, without the angle I would just be seeing a room with furniture. The angle emphasizes the sizes, colors, and lighting in this room. The reflections off the left wall are so mysterious and unique.

    Inspiring photos!

You might have my favorite set of this project! Overall amazing photos and composition.
It was a tough decision, but my favorite is #6. The skull in it is awesome, and I wonder how you got that there. But the colors in the sky are beautiful, while also not being to cliche because of the composition of the frame. The pretty sunset with the skull thrown in there gives off a feeling of like "the dark night is rising". Very cool, great job!

  5. Emily, you've got some interesting photographs here! Many of them are too beautiful for me to decide on a favorite. The effects you achieved/created on some of them are great as well. Your photos range in subject matter, color and emotion! Great variety. Number 5 is my favorite of the bunch. I was actually going to do a photo like this until I saw yours and decided to wait for another week to get it. The natural daylight hitting the water droplets on the web create such dimension. Another thing I admire about the image is that there is minimal color. Berkowitz has been drilling it to us about not over saturating our photos for these color assignments, creating a more natural look, and I think that it works wonders here. The most color we get is in the background with the trees and the man sitting in the chair at top left. The less amount of color, the more you are able to focus on the web, which consists of virtually no color at all. Over saturated colors would take away from the main subject matter, we would instantly be drawn to the bright background, like a bug to a bright light.

    Wonderful photos this week!

  6. Really really awesome pictures here, it was pretty tough to narrow it down. However for POW my favorite has to be #1. I think you have my favorite set of photos on the blog for this unit because your coloring is just phenomenal. The color contrasting is awesome the primary colors look really cool with the apples and the blue sky. The detail in the picture is also awesome. Really though i haven't had this hard a time picking my photo of the week before, there are a lot of really well done photos here, you really hit the nail on the head with this set...well done.

  7. Emily,

You did an extraordinary job with this assignment. It was very hard for me to choose my favorite one. I like your photos seem to be stand alone and have such a great impact that they can easily be stand alone pictures without supporting pictures. I'm kind of obsessed with photos #1, #2, and #8. But my favorite picture would have to be photo #5. At first, I thought it was falling water, but it's a spider web and I think that is so cool.

  8. Hands down # 4 is my favorite. It really embodies the theme of mystery from our black and white topic. It pops! A lot of your photos, while the content is not too mysterious, really had me wondering, where the heck are you? Some sort of haunted house? Lol Some of your photos have a creepy vibe to them, and even though the colors don't necessarily pop, they work!

  9. 1,3,13 are all my favorite. They all really capture great color and passion.

My POW absolute favorite goes too #6. The intensity of the sunset over the city and the skull on your shirt have such nice contrast. There is such a passion between the skull shirt and the city. It is really intriguing, and makes me think about all the beauty and evil in Philadelphia. I also enjoy the composition, it is refreshing that you are not in the middle of the photograph and standing a little off center, it makes the picture more interesting. I also like how you are above the city, it is a unique view.

You did an amazing job! I love the flow of the way you organized your pictures and also the subject matter. I love the haunted feel that some of your pictures had - they would have worked for the first critique as well. My POW would be number 3. It reminded me of apple picking as a child, and also I loved the effects that you used with the very toned down color. You also had great composition throughout your pictures. Great work!
