  1. Wow, Jordan you sure do have a lot of color in your photos! I would suggest that you do desaturate some of them a bit as Berkowitz suggested. Some of the deep reds and blues blow out the compositions.

However, I will say that number 5 is definitely my favorite of the bunch. I love the framing, composition and your choice in focus. The pumpkins color really "pop" out of the frame, it being the brightest color in the photo (although as I mentioned earlier, it is a big over saturated) standing out from the light brown background and the silver rim of the box they sit in. It really gets me into the spirit of Fall and got me really excited of Halloween and pumpkin patch visits with my nephew.

  2. Hi Jordan, I have to agree with Lauralea on the over saturation, while the color looks cool it takes away a little bit as well.
I also love the pumpkin pic but my favorite this week has to be #3. The color is not overdone, it looks natural and the light was just right to catch all the details these flowers bring. Side note: I LOVE the hanger lattice for the vines to climb up! That is what actually had me looking at this over and over. Something so simple but works so well, you captured the simple beauty of it perfectly with the framing and colors.

  3. There's a lot of good color going on in this set. I vote #3 for POW. I think some of these are a little too saturated and forced the color a little too much but overall you got the idea. There's something really cool going on with #6 as well, even though its over saturated it gives off a really intersting, acidic vibe to it... almost like you manipulated a film photo. I would avoid cliches with outdoor photos but overall there's some really great composition work here. #3 definitely does it for me with its composition and color. There's a good balance.

  4. Great job with all the color, but like mentioned in previous comments and from our professor, try to tone down the saturation and let the beauty of the shot speak for itself. Regardless, you have a really interesting set here, it seems like you went on quite an adventure. I like 10,11 and your self-portrait but my vote goes with #12. I really enjoy nature shots and this one is cool because you capture a lot of color and some shadows and light too.nice work

  5. Hey Jordan,

This set really popped! You have some great colors that are really eye catching. I agree that you should tone down the saturation a little bit, but overall I really like this whole set. My favorite is #5, where the pumpkins appear to be coming at the camera. The composition is awesome and colors are fantastic. Nice job!

  6. Jordan-
My favorite was #3. It was the softest color of the bunch, but still had enough to make it pop. The arrangement of objects and leaves keep it interesting while the tight frame makes me wonder what the whole view would look like, what it really is if I stepped back. Some photos seem to be a little over saturated, but you have a great eye for composition (like in #7 through the glass). Overall, great set!

  8. I think you hit the color requirement right on the head. I can tell that you enjoy taking photos in nature but I wish there was more variety in those photos. Number 7 does a good job of conveying passion but my favorite would have to be number 3. I love how you notices the hangers with the greenery. The juxtaposition of inorganic and natural things really appeals to me.
    Nice job

  9. 5 has my vote for POW just in time for fall. The orange color of the pumpkins just pops right out of the picture and catches your attention. Being that our assignment was passion and color i think you did a great job with this set of photos. I love all the nature shots they all came out awesome, but i would try to add some more variety (i need to do the same myself). Overall the colors in the pictures really jump and catch the eye, maybe a bit less saturation but overall this set is awesome. The composition is your photos is great and i really like your self portrait #4 as well

  10. I love the outdoors so I really enjoyed looking at your photos. You captured some great color in these pictures. I love the way you captured the light in number 11. and the leaves in the last picture are mesmerizing. Also I really like how in number four you can see the LOVE tattoo in the mirror. You have a lot of great photos but I think my favorite would have to be number 14. The colors in the leaves really captured my attention and it seems like you are looking out over a cliff. Nice job in these and my only suggestion is to notice that just cause the assignment is color, it doesn't have to be over saturated. I feel like I would have enjoyed number one more if it wasn't so bright. Great job though keep it up!

  11. Wow! All of your photos were extremely colorful and bright. After looking through your photos, I felt happier than when I first started them. As with David Shiraki, I feel all of your photos somewhat relate to one another in some way. Also, I found that there was a Fall theme going on. Accidental or not, it worked very well for me. I like that you incorporated your passions into your photos, which is exactly what the assignment was calling for. My favorite photo of yours would have to be #7 because it shows that you are out with a friend and having fun with life. I like the angle you chose and the color that the picture emanates.

  12. Jordan -

Good work! While some of your earlier color photos seem to be a bit over saturated, I think that they turned out really beautiful. All of the pictures feel very happy. I loved all of the shots in nature and the flow of the way that you organized them for this critique. My favorite picture is number 3. I like the different layers that are presented with the flowers and hangers? (I am guessing!) and also the contrast of color in it.
