  1. Hello Maria! My favorite of your collection is #1. While the decision wasn’t hard you still have other great photos, #1 just has it all. First, it appears that you are standing in the street which immediately brings a different perspective than what we might usually see (i.e. someone shooting from roadside). Your ability to capture the truck headed in your direction also shows creativity. Without the vehicle, I don’t think this photo would be as interesting. The off-centeredness also offers to the value of this shot.

I believe that this photo shows that you were able to combine both lessons on B&W/mystery with Color/passion. The sun feels so warm but there is an eeriness that contradicts it with the coolness of the dark shadow and that creepy truck. I don’t know why I think that truck is creepy…but I do. Perhaps it has to do with the isolation and the fact that it is moving away from the heat and into the darkness.

Overall, great job! You have a good eye. This photo was technically successful as well as impactful on the viewer.

  2. Hi Maria.
Number 8 hands down. I can stare at this picture everyday for hours. The longer I stare at it the more I see. The color are beautiful, the reflection draws the eyes to other places in the photo. The way that the trees seem to reach back into the picture really adds dimension and depth. Although this may seems "cliche" to some, I love it. If it was mine, I'd print it and frame it. Great job.

  3. I really like #9 and #12. I vote #12 for POW. The contrast and color treatment makes for an interesting vibe while I really enjoy the colors in #9. I like the diverse photo subjects. I like the organization of the photos as well, there first couple photos have a warm vibe to them and it gets colder as I scroll down. Overall this a solid set of photos. The only thing I would say would maybe avoid the vignette because sometimes it looks a little too 'smartphone photography' and you lose the realistic sense to the photo.

  4. Your photos are beautiful! I think the first half is definitely stronger. You’re really good at using natural light and your photos look very dreamlike. I’m not as much as fan of the darker night photos, but I think they look mysterious and I think that’s definitely something to note! I like your varied use of composition in the first few. Not everything is just in the center. It was hard for me to pick a favorite but #1 gets my vote. I love the monochromatic yellow tones and how the trees are silhouetted. and the sun shining through the trees is perfect! I also love the truck coming down the road. It’s all great, nice job.

  5. Maria-
Great job, I really enjoyed your photo's this week. My POW is number 1, it could be framed. You really captured something that resembles color and passion to me. This photo is full of great lighting, the sun is beaming through the trees on this quiet street! Very nice photo!

Numbers 3,4,5 - great use of such simple beautiful things.

Photo 13 I admire, I continue to comment everyone's dark photos because I was unable to capture something like it but this photo is really unique. I like how the disco ball spreads out colors through light. Very appropriate for this weeks topic.

  6. Really strong set all around! Number 1 is really really powerful with color and passion and it has my vote for the POW, nice job selecting it to start off the set too, i think that can be important. Furthermore, i thought number 13 was interesting because half the photo is dark and the other half is colorful, but i can still tell whats going on in the dark half. So nice job with that!

  7. #9 has my vote for POW. I don't know what it is but something about water always grabs my attention. The cool blue color found in the water mixed in with the paddle boat and dock add for some really cool color contrast. I also really liked the photos that seem to be taken at a farm? they came out extremely well. I think all in all your photos captured a lot of great color for this set and a few of these look like pictures people could hang on their walls.

  8. I love this set of photos. You seem to be attracted to nature but you have a interesting take on it. I do think the photos are a tad bit over processed. If it were not for this number 9 would be my favorite but I am voting for number 1 for the POW. I love the way you captured the sunlight shining through the trees on the road. Great collection. You really have an eye for this!

  9. Cool photos! I really like #8: The shot is amazing, it captures color beautifully and the reflection on the water is perfect! The use of color, well the way you captured color in this photo set is nicely done. Your content varies across the board so it made for an interesting collection of photos. #14 immediately caused me to giggle: your face promoted me to think "uh oh- what'd he do!" LOL Keep up the good work.

  10. Although I enjoyed all of your photos a lot (espeically the outdoors ones), #1 is definitely my favorite. It has such a warm toning to it. The passion is pouring out of the picture. It makes me feel like I am driving back home about to pull into my driveway. The sun beam shining down the road and the trees lining the street create a great compositional element. The car coming down the street makes me want to scream, welcome home!! Great job :)
