  1. Hey Ryan! You had some really great shots for this go around (and your dog is super cute!) First let me say # 9 & 11 are beautiful, stunning actually. The color and the scenery remind me actually of places I have been and they bring back really great memories annnd I'm a sucker for sunsets. As much as I love them I think they are to "postcard" like so I am going to vote for #7 for your POW. The color and the mystery seem to be more along the lines of what we were supposed to shoot. This picture makes me stop and look and think. What is it ? Where is it? and What did it use to be?. The graffiti almost seems to blend into the color of the plants over taking the walls. Great Job!

  2. Overall, these are some nice outdoor photos with some nice composition. I would avoid cliches for the next topic but i enjoy the way some of these are composed. I vote #11 as your POW. I felt strongest about this one at first glance because the contrast of color is enough to make it interesting. It reminds me of simple colorblocking found in design. I would try an experiment with different photo editing apps on your phone for more variety of effects.

  3. Hey ryan! Some real good stuff here this critique. My favorite and vote for your POW will be #9. I'm a real sucker for bridges and sunsets and you have both in one shot! I tend to take a lot of photos like this myself but i feel as though they may fall under the cliche list, especially the dog. But I also really liked 13, it has a variety of different, but strong colors. Good work.

  4. I vote for number 11 as your picture of the week. I think the dark gate creates a that stops the photo from being cliche. I like the photo set but some come off as over processed. This has been said before but your dog is adorable. It looks like you have a lot of fun shooting

  5. Hey Ryan,

My favorite photograph is #9. I think the composition is great, the sunset colors are gorgeous, and the boardwalk gives the photo shape. Nice job!

However, I agree, stay away from photo cliches. Maybe mess around with using various angles so we're looking at something from a different perspective.

  6. Ryan, as cute as your dog is, avoid it next time! Also, sunsets. Cliche's lol. But, when I overlook the cliche's, you've got some really beautiful photographs here. I love your use of color and soft focus overall. It is really hard not to pick any of the photographs that are not of the sunsets because they are very beautiful - numbers 9 & 11. Number 9 is my favorite of the bunch. The color is transcendent. The way the sun light bounces off the building, the water and even the dock is beautiful. Also, the dock being framed the way it is creates a great use of lines, leading the eye directly to the background. My most favorite part of the this photograph is definitely the reflection on the water. You captured light and shadows perfectly. Good job!

  7. Ryan, nice job on these i love the color in number 3 and I think that also really shows the passion part of the assignment. Some of the pictures look a little foggy and i'm not sure if thats an effect you added but I feel like some of them would have looked better without it. I think my favorite has to be three. Its playful and shows what your into, also the color in it is great. Also your dog is adorable. Nice work.

  8. Ryan -

Great job on this assignment. I think that you were really able to capture the theme for this critique. I enjoyed the hazy effect that some of your photos had - not sure if that was something that was intentionally done? My favorite pictures of yours were 9, 10, and 11. I am a big fan of nature shots. In 9, I really enjoyed the composition and the depth that you were able to create with the bridges. Photo 10 had great color with the sun and I loved the reflection of the water below. For picture 11 I loved both the composition and the texture. Also I enjoyed the pictures of your dog. My vote for POW is going to number 10.
