  1. Hey Allison, my POY comes from chapter I. Reflections One. The second photo of the Dam is very intriguing to me. I really like the way you removed the color it added a lot of simplicity to the photo and allowed for focus on things like the reflections in the water that includes the vegetation that surrounds the water as well as the sky above. I like the variation that is present regarding light and dark areas. All in all I think you produced a good final portfolio, maybe more color could have been utilized. I enjoyed your work throughout the semester!

  2. Hi Allison,
I really enjoyed looking at your work this semester. You have a beautiful handling of black and white photography that I really admire. Your black and white and minimally toned shots are exquisite with an unique feeling of consistency. This final portfolio flows beautifully as a body of work. I really enjoy the selective color palette in number8 in your chapter "back and forth and forward". I sense a narrative. You have a pretty awesome rendering of distortion in sone shots, especially in the one of your hand (woah!). I have to say that number four in your first chapter, "Reflection One" has my vote for POY. It has the perfect balance of contrast, tonality, and abstraction. Really gorgeous shot. Nice work this semester!

You've got a lot of black and white photographs in your portfolio. I admire that you didn't feel as though you had to incorporate more color and that you went with what you wanted your portfolio to be about. You've done a great job throughout the semester of adding a ton of mystery within every set of photos as well as your final portfolio. I love that the two color photographs are mixed in with very serious shots. The flower was one of my favorites during the semester and so was the chalk. The chalk brought back many memories and is such a fun activity. I also enjoy the shot of your jewelry in the last chapter. I really think this would have gone well in the vintage topic of the week, is it new? My POY would be the second photograph in "yesterday, I.." . I know that I had seen it before but I love the black and white contrast and how emphasized the flowers have become with the angle it was shot at. The balance of the shadows against such a light sky only makes the image stronger and benefits your photography. I feel as though I am an ant in this looking up at the sky. Great work putting together your portfolio and I hope you had fun this semester!

  4. Great work! I love the nostalgic vibe I get from your portfolio as a whole. You've really honed in on the black and white and memory work from our topics this semester. My favorite photo would have to be the fifth one in the Yesterday I chapter. It really makes me feel as if it's a part of a memory.

  5. Allison -

You did a great job on your final collection. I love that all of the images have the same black and white tone to them. All of your photos feel very nostalgic to me. My vote for POY would have to go to the last picture in the Yesterday I... collection. I love the way the light is bursting through the fence.
