Okay, I love your little joke there at the end. But its true, whenever I see a cliché, I'm like, "Oh, not one of those again!" Luckily for me, my dog hates to have her photo taken, so I am not tempted to try. Anyway, back to your photos. For me, the photo I see the most creativity in is the third photo down in your chapter titled "New Style, Old Twist." I think this photo shows how far you have come since the start of class. It involves a different perspective and adds some subtle aspects that we hadn't seen in your photos before.
Hi Ryan! What a beautiful cliche! ;) I see some of my favorite photos of yours from throughout the semester. Your new photographs are wonderful as well. I especially like the basketball stuck in the net. The framing and angle is great! Although, I will be making my choice for your POY the first photo in you 'Look on the Bright Side...' chapter. This was a photo that I has previously voted for as your POW. I remember saying that the color was transcendent and that I loved the way the sun was bouncing off the building and dock - even reflecting off the water . Then there's the dock, creating a frame and leading the eye towards the background. The entire composition was beautifully executed.
Ryan, I like your first photo in New Style, Old Twist the best and it gets my vote for your POY. It's cool how you used an older photo and did a double exposure style on top of a recent shot. It's very interesting and cool to look at, it's kind of ghost-like! I think if you wanted to try something like this again, it might be interesting to overlay the photo in an outside setting as well, like in a field! Just something that might be cool. But I love this and I think you did a good job.
Hi Ryan, I really enjoyed looking at your work this semester. I really admire all of the progress you have clearly made throughout the semester. Your work seems to have truly transformed into a finished body of art. My favorite is the first photograph under the chapter "New Style, Old Twist"- so appropriately titled! This shot is one of my favorites among our class's. Honestly, I found myself wishing I had thought of it! I absolutely love the overlay of the old-fashioned two people in a modern setting. It definitely has my vote for the POY. Also, I might commend you on your little "cliche" at the end. You liked it and you stuck to it. Isn't that what makes great artists stand out? Good work this semester!
Nice! I love the ode to cliches that we've been warned about all semester. Cliche or not, it's a nice photo of your dog. Great work on the portfolio overall. I love the titles you have selected and the ways you fit the photos together to go along with the titles. My favorite photo for the semester would have to be the basketball hoop. As simple as it is, it works. Great job!
Ryan I think everyone in this class that has an animal was eager to add them to the sets, so funny that you added that as your last photograph... If there were a pet photography course I would definitely enroll ! Nice job putting together the portfolio, I see that you had added the basketball photo in the color is just an illusion, this is nice. I am drawn to photographs that have to do with games because I vision happy children playing them. Who doesn't enjoy watching people smile and have fun. If i were basing my POY on just that, I would vote for the basketball as well. However, I think that your strongest photo from the semester the third photograph in "more than meets the eye". You really thought outside of the box, while not all of the students in this class have the natural talent that photography takes, this photo could almost fit in with some of the more advanced students. It looks like you really went with what was asked by the professor! Great portfolio, nice cliche! Hope you learned a lot and had fun!
Ryan - Great work. You have a very unique and interesting style that comes through in your pictures. As a whole I feel like they fit together really nicely. Your new images taken for this final critique work really well with your previous ones. My vote for POY is the first picture in the Look on the Bright Side collection. It has a great composition, and I love the way you were able to capture the light.
Ryan, Great job this semester. You took some really simple things (barbed wire) and made them into great pictures. My pick for POY would be hands down the first picture from "look on the bright side". Some might find it to post cardish but I love it. It invokes a memory in me, the time of day and the overall composition of the shot are perfect. Great Job.
Ryan, Great work throughout this whole semester. I like how you took a lot of everyday items that people take for granted and made them noticed with your photography. My POY for you would be the third picture from Color is just an illusion. I really like how you combined the beer box with fire. It shows a lot of emotion without meaning to I think. Setting fire to something that destroys people? Great work!
