David, I always like seeing your photos, your creativity is impressive. My top choices are #2, #5, #13 and #15. In # 2 I want to know if that bee is alive… is it fake? I am intrigued by the baby in a bottle as well. I’m just curious about this photo. #5 makes me wonder why and where this figure is running. My favorite photo overall is #15. This photo reminds me of my self-portrait (#1) but at the same time it is different. Sarah had made a comment on my self-portrait about how she felt as though she shouldn’t be looking at someone in such a vulnerable state. I understood what she meant but could not fully experience what she was saying because I was looking down at me. Here, I am looking down at you and I completely get what she had said. You don’t appear vulnerable in the same sense but I get a feeling that you could be. This photo makes me think a lot. I think different aspects are interesting such as, how the camouflage pants contrast with the teddy bear blanket, your direct eye contact and open pose. It is almost as if you are laying on that bed and the childhood memories are being absorbed.
David, this set in great! I always look forward to seeing what you bring to the table. I've got to say, it was difficult to choose a favorite. Numbers 2,5,6,13 and 15 are wonderfully executed. The colors, lighting, framing, everything came into play. I was unsure of what to choose as your POW until I investigated #15 further. I hadn't noticed the teddy bears on the comforter. That itself adds an entirely new level to the composition. It makes me think of growing up, leaving home, becoming an adult and then coming home to visit and sleeping in your old bed, childish sheets intact. It's almost as if your staring up at your old life, contemplating the places you've gone and what you miss. For those reasons, #15 is my vote.
David, your photographs are always outside the box. They differentiate from the class and it gives a lot of hints on you as an individual while staying in the topic. First off, how in the world did you come up with a way to shoot your self portrait number 15? Really awesome, nice work being creative. I really enjoy number 10, even though it is a sewer, I like how you don't exactly know what could be under there. My POW is number 2, the way you shot this really gives us a lot of detail about the insect which creates a memory for me. I was always so interested in bugs, and still am. I just love taking photos of awesome plants and animals so that I can examine their elaborate detail. The doll in the background is so creepy! The shot really fits the vintage theme! 13 is spooky, really creates mystery which I feel is inevitably an ongoing theme in this course. Great work David!
As mentioned, you have a knack for capturing things much different from the rest of us that still seems to work! You remind me of a street photog, turning every day regular stuff into amazing shots. My favorite one is #6. I love the colors here. The use of blue throughout yet so many different shades of it is amazing. The sky looks gorgeous and it contrasts so well with the water, creating a beautiful reflection where they work with one another instead of competing for your sole focus in the shot. Great work!
Hey David- I admire the creative imagery in this set. You have some eclectic subject matter here! The colors are captured beautifully, especially in number 2. It has such an upbeat tone that I almost forgot the the doll in the glass jar is weird. Awesome bee. Photos 5 and 6 could be a pair. Number 6 has such brilliant blue shades and really pops underneath the green grass in 5. Very inventive self portrait at the end too! I vote number 2 for pow!
I love how you bring something different to the class every week. I like your approach to the idea memory. These photos look like they could have been taken in the past. My favorite photo is number 5. I like how open it is. It reminds me of running through fields in the past.
I really liked how you did something a little bit different than the rest of the class. Instead of using filters and effects to get the vintage look, you made your photos extremely interesting and fun. Kudos! It's always hard for me to pick a POW for your photos every week. This critique I really liked photo #2 because it is really cool how you got such a close and still picture of the bug. My POW for you would have to be photo #6. I love the colors and the way the shot is framed. Great job this week!
hey David 7 was my favorite from this set. It really is vintage and take you back to the old days when candy used to be sold similarly. I thought you produced a good set overall regarding the assigned material. You capture a lot of really great color schemes in these photos and they were really enjoyable.
