Emily, Your style is very unique! It has been an adventure looking at your collections this semester. I enjoyed the new perspectives you brought to this class and your ability to be unpredictable. You did a good job here at organizing your photos. They are very cohesive and go together nicely. I also applaud you for your chapter names. There is a lot of creativity here, but the chapter that I enjoyed the most was "Ogres are like onions". The technique here is one you have made ever-interesting. Although it is repetitive it is not boring! What is really difficult is choosing which photo is to be your picture of the year. I think I have decided on number 12 the second photo in this chapter. (My second choice was #11 in this chapter). I believe I had chosen #12 for your POW before. For some reason it still resonates with me. I like the facial expressions and how they change with every multiple captures. I think this photo best demonstrates your skill. All in all, good job!
Emily, your unique style has been something I looked forward to every topic we've photographed for this semester and your final portfolio does not disappoint. My favorite chapter is probably tied between both the Grunge and Layers. Your ability to enhance texture as been one of my favorite aspects of your photography throughout the entire semester. My vote for your POY is #12, which I believe I (as Brooke also stated) voted as your POW in our last topic. The long exposure pulls you back to a time, any time, when you're just hanging around with your friends, family, what have you.
Emily, again I was extremely excited to see your final product. Every critique I was extremely impressed by the great quality you produced and you didn't let us down on the final portfolio. I have to agree with the ladies that commented already and say that my vote for POY goes out to photo 12. All the different appearances and facial expressions all caught in one photo but shown in different lights and different depths creates for a very unique photo. Like I said before I really enjoyed your work, and enjoyed learning from you throughout the semester.
Hey Emily. What a fantastic job you have done here with this final portfolio. Your work has been a powerhouse all semester, you should be proud! My vote for your POY is most definitely number 21. Such an excellent job here. I dont think i've seen another shot anything like it all semester so its unique. well done
Awesome job. I dig all of the editing processes you experimented with. My vote for POY is number 8 because that's my initial favorite. I love all the textures and colors with this one it looks very painterly. You did a good job throughout the semester with the assignments. cool
Emily, You have a truly fantastic set. Your photos are more than photography. They're art, and they're different. That's what I like about them. The compositions of them are so interesting to me. You had great work throughout the whole semester. For your portfolio, I'm going to go with #14 in Onions Are Like Ogres as your POY. I see your face, and a faint carousel in it, and I didn't even notice the third scene until I went back to look at it again, but it adds a pattern and character to what I initially saw. This image gave me a feeling that I was seeing a childhood memory before my eyes. I also liked the little bit of color in it. Very great job organizing your portfolio, as well as this whole semester!
Emily, I agree with everyone above. Your portfolio is wonderful. Great work throughout the entire semester, you've really taught me some stuff. I am still curious, I am guessing that number 22 is a dog. At the beginning of the semester I saw this photograph and was absolutely clueless on how you could have captured something like this. I have now learned a great deal and can probably guess that you used slow shutter speed. With your portfolio, you've really created something that I am sure most of the class wishes that they could produce. I am almost sad that I cannot continue to learn from you and your photographs. Deciding on a POY is extremely hard with what great things you have produced. In almost each chapter I find something that I feel as if I could say, this is it... and then it happens again, and so on... Each and every photo is different and unique in its own way. I am going to have to go with number 6 as the POY. I am not sure why, but I can actually feel what the hands are feeling in this photograph by looking at it. Even though my hands are not in the position or holding anything, I can very much put myself into this photograph and I find that beautiful. Great work and hope you had fun this semester!
I love that your first chapter title is " The Traditionals" because it really speaks to you as an artist. Most of your photos are not like a traditional shot, they have a lot more depth to them. We are both very different in the way that we shoot but I really admire your eye and ability to comprise these images or multiple images into one creative image. Throughout the semester I loved coming to look at what you were putting up. You have a lot of strong images and may favorites are 1, 5 12 and 23 but I think for your POY I have to pick number 5. There is just so much detail and depth to this photo that I could look at it forever and sill be seeing something new. The water droplets look so peaceful and I love that you decided to turn it into black and white, the contrast makes it more dramatic. Great job this semester, I love looking at all of your photos!
Emily, I have really enjoyed your work from the start of this class. You always post something that makes me excited to see more! I love everything in your static motion and light chapter. Every single one of those are so interesting and I feel like I can stare at them forever and get something different from them each time. Number 11 in the layers chapter is my POY for you. (I love the chapter title too!) The picture has so many things that i love, the b&w, the layers, the movement. It's a great shot!
Emily, Good job putting together your portfolio. I like what you chose and how you organized them. It made a lot of sense to me. For my POY, I would have to pick photo number 5. It is really cool how you captured the water coming off of the spider web. I personally am too terrified of spiders to get that close, but that's why I enjoyed looking at it. Great work this year!
