  1. Ross, overall very cohesive group! While there was a nice flow from one picture to the next, it appears you took the more simple approach to organizing your photos more or less by how we grouped our photos in class. I sort of wish that your groups were brought together on other aspects such as symbolism, meaning, composition. I feel it would have added an extra element. Regardless, you have some very good photos here. After some time, I have decided that I vote the first photo of your self-portraits as your photo of the year.
There are a lot of aspects I like from this photo. The first being how far away you are from the camera! It feels like I am approaching you from the distance. It adds to the portrait and differentiates this portrait from ones we have seen before (many of which are close up). Another technique I like is how you are off center and the camera doesn't feel placed. Its almost as if someone is walking by and taking a picture at the amen time. This really captures a moment in time.
I think you were very successful with your portfolio, you definitely show the progress you have made over the course of the semester. This photo describes that too!
    Nice work!

  2. Hi Ross! First off, I would have to agree with Brooke. I feel like you could have ventured in creating a much more specifically detail oriented group of chapters. Nevertheless, some of your best work is present in this portfolio. The fifth photo down in your Vintage chapter is what I vote as your Photo of the Year. I dig the ominous feel of the entire composition - the dutch angle framing, looking up at these flight of stars into a place of complete darkness. The lighting, shadows of the railing and the natural texture of the stairs add this grunge effect to an already threatening atmosphere!

    Wonderful job!

  3. Hey Ross my vote for POY is the first picture in More Than The Eye Can See. I love the fish eye shot. The color in the photo adds for a cool effect. The framing along with the fish eye separate it from just being the typical run of the mill photo of the sky we see everyday. Overall I think you produced a good set and it was hard to choose just one photo. I enjoyed your work throughout the semester.

  4. Ross, the fourth photo in your Vintage chapter is my favorite and I chose it as your POY. I think I chose this photo for your POW, but it still stands out against the rest for me. For me, it gives a certain nostalgic feeling along with a mysterious feeling as well, which might have to do with the fact that you can't see what's around the bend. Nice job.

  5. Immediately i gravitated toward your first photo in the portfolio. A lot of things cool things going on in this one. You have some great color throughout your portfolio which stands out from the rest of the set which is great. But the first photo is definitely my favorite.

  6. My VOY is the door open under the vintage chapter, I've been drawn to this photograph since the vintage topic. I really enjoy your portfolio overall, the way you have separated the chapters is quiet simple but explains everyones journey throughout through this course from day one. Good job incorporating some new photographs that fit well in your portfolio. I enjoy the 4th photo in the vintage chapter as well, I believe this is one of your new shots. I enjoyed all of your sets throughout the semester and hope you had fun, nice work!

  7. My favorite chapter is "More Than The Eye Can See" I think the photos in this chapter aptly represent the name. My favorite is the one of the bee. My vote for POY is the very first photo, The lines in this photo in addition to the black and white color scheme really captures a viewers attention. Great job.

  8. My favorite photo is the first one in the Luminance, Radiance, Color chapter. The slight bit of color in the bike that you've captured amongst such a dull color in the steps really works. I like how you have grouped your photos together in such a way that fits yet still shows such different photos throughout. Great work.

  9. You've got a lot of pictures here! I would have loved to seen you organize them in a way that put content together rather than just the style of the shot. I enjoyed looking at your photos, you take a lot of close up and simple shots framing everyday things in a way that makes them more appealing to the eye. My favorite chapter was the vintage one. I really enjoyed the softness and colors of those images. I vote the first picture your POY. I still have no idea what it is and I love getting lost in it as I stare trying to figure it out. Great job this semester.

  10. Ross -

Great job!! Out of this collection I enjoyed your Vintage chapter the most. My vote for POY was a difficult choice. My favorite photo of yours however is the first picture in the Vintage chapter. I love the toned down color and also the perspective of the image.

  11. Ross,
Your portfolio does a great job of displaying your overall style this semester. I like the new photos you added to your portfolio, I think they really add to your collection. My POY goes to (I think it was also my POW) photo 1 in you ‘Lacking Color’ chapter. The b&w was a good choice, it creates a really interesting contrast throughout the image. The spiral is so captivating; I always wonder how you captured this image. Good job this semester!
