Hi Jordan! You've got an interesting set here. I like that you experimented with different effects and colors. My vote for your POW would have to be #11. As soon as I saw that, I connected with it. My dad collects old bottles and odd things like that, I love it. Although, he finds them, doesn't buy them (it looks as though they have price tags attached). It also reminds me of an image I took like, 2? assignments ago with my dad's old bottles. The fact that you chose to filter the blue, brown and clear bottles with a warm tone and red shadow overlay adds to the affect that those bottles are indeed (probably) very old, very *vintage* indeed. I just wish there was more light coming in through the window, washing out the detail behind the bottles.I see this image and I picture my dad outside in the woods with his stupid metal detector looking for old objects buried in the ground, haha.
Hi Jordan, The photo of yours that I feel best conveys memory is number 13. While I may be biased in choosing this photo, I was continually drawn to it. When I was little my stepfather had a number of self-employed jobs, one of them was delivering firewood. We would cut down trees, split the wood, stack the wood, deliver the wood, we even burn our own (we had two fireplaces that heated our entire house). This photo of this stack brings me back to those memories, some good and others bad. I remember long winters and splitting wood in upstate New York on the coldest days. I also remember coming inside and seeing the stack that was against our wall near the stove. I remember, loading up the stove while my mother made her homemade hot chocolate on top of it. I believe that not only does the subject matter spark memory but so does the way you colored the photo. I like this additional technique you used. I feel that the green tint real works toward the memory quality. Other photos that really work well here are #11 and #12. Eleven also brings me back to being little. Another job we were a part of was excavation, I would always find these bottles in the loose dirt. I like the way the colors interact with each other here and the overall composition. I’m going to go with 13. Somehow the monochromatic color works really well here.
Hi Jordan, Once again you have some real quality work. As a collector of antique medicine bottles ( I'm a pharmacy major, it's my little geeky thing..lol) I love number 11. I like to color you chose to use it really seems to bring out the vintage in the picture. My favorite though would be number 2 for a few reasons. I love black and white photography and this is a really nice example of it with a beautiful contrast. I also love the way the focus is on the flower and the rest of the picture looks different every time I look at it, is it a reflection on the water? Is it the rest of the plant? Keeps me guessing. Finally it brings a smile to my face due to the fact it looks very similar to a picture I have in my room above my bed. So it has a good memory trigger for me. Great Job.
Hi Jordan! I really enjoyed your set of photographs this time around. I can tell you put a lot of time and thought into creating the images; they really express the vintage/memory look.
Some of my favorites are 8, 11, 13, and 14. I really enjoy your nature photos, especially 13. This day in age you can just go to the grocery store and buy some firewood so it is nice to see people are still chopping their own wood. Seeing this photograph I think of my Uncle Mike’s mountain house. The yellow tones in the photo give a nice vintage look. Good job Jordan!
6,8 and 16 are my three favorite of this set. I really like 8 because for whatever reason i enjoy shots of doors, it always gets me thinking... But this particular one certainly has a nice vintage feel. I like 16 because its an interesting take on a self-portrait with your shadow, cool idea! But my vote for POW this week will have to be number 6 because it really looks like an old time photo, the shot is cool, but the editing and filter is even better! so nice job overall
You found some great ways to age your photographs and I'm wondering what apps you used. I keep looking back at #5. Something about this intrigues me, like your looking into a portal to the past. #6 looks like it could be found in a history book, and #8 could be the church my mother was dragged to every Sunday. My favorite though it #11, and I'm wondering where you took it. This photograph offers a lot to look at. Great job!
I like this photo set. You have succeeded in capturing pictures in our world today and making them have an old feel to them. I particularly like #5. This photo makes me want to "open up" the picture and see what else is around those tracks. I like the use of the filters you used to give the vintage feel because I think they add to it rather than make it appear older. Very unique way of capturing your reflection in the glasses of #7. I like this photo too. Great work!
I've really enjoyed your photos week after week! This week is no different. My favorite photos are 13,7, and 4 but my absolute favorite is 11. I love the rustic feels to your photo. You really embrace your urban environment. Since I live in the city, this gives me a perspective I would not have otherwise.
I do wish the photos were not as filtered as they were. I would to see nature's beauty!
Jordan- My favorite and POW of yours would definitely be #11. The structure is very interesting to me in the first place, but the way you edited it gives off that antique-y feel! It makes me wonder what the rest of the house looks like. It looks like something I would find on pinterest! Over all, your photos very well matched the vintage/memory theme.
I love your pictures this week! I love the nature theme throughout - looks like you were hiking which is my favorite thing to do. This set of photos overall had great color and composition. My pick for POW is number 8. I love the symmetry of the building against wreaths which are not symmetrical. The image definitely has a vintage feel to it.
I really enjoyed your photos. The ones of the houses are great. You really manipulated the pictures in a great way with adding color to them to make them feel older and washed out a bit. I would have to say that four is my favorite just because of the way you framed it and have the focus on the door as well as the leaves outside. Great job this week!
17 is my favorite. I'm not really sure what it is so that instantly creates curiosity. You had a lot of great pictures in this set so it was pretty tough to choose only 1. You have great color but also added cool effects to give it the vintage touch, well done.
