  1. Oh, Debora! This is such a wonderful set of photographs! I have so many favorites, but I think I will give my POW vote to #5. It's great. The color reproduction, framing, at setting reminds of me of some late 90's - early 00's urban indie movie or a documentary, like it could be a still frame. That is instantly where my mind went. It's a completely candid shot, or at least it appears to be. My favorite thing about this image is the fact that the three subjects playing basketball stand out from the environment because of how vibrant their clothing is. They stand out over everything. Wonderful!

  2. Debora, I love this topic for you. I think you shined with some of these photos!
Photos I enjoyed were #5, #12 and #13. I really love how number thirteen is a combination of an old photograph and a current situation. Instead of making me go back to a memory it also allows me to see through the eyes of someone else as they remember this moment of this woman here. It’s interesting how you decided to go about overlapping the past onto the background. Number 13’s creativity caught my attention but what I think should be your POW is #5.
I like how this is an in-action shot. It gives your photo even more of a memory feel because it takes us back to this exact moment where the man in the yellow is about to shoot. Also, something about this green tint makes me feel like I am seeing a memory. It looks kind of like the images my mom has in her photo albums of my sister and I when we were younger. I think it has to do with the overall tint of the photo.

  3. Hi Debora, I am really intrigued by your pictures for this set. 13 and 15 both made me do a double even triple take. You not only captured a memory, you were able to re-create it with this type of photo in photo. I am really impressed. I would have to say the one with the woman in the kitchen would be my pic for POW. It really looks so real, your ability to line up the shot and arrange it, it looks like a step back in time. Great Job.

  4. Debora, really great photographs this week. I will start with number 17, because I would love if you would send the detailed recipe to the class (or just me). I am not sure how you incorporated these colors but it looks very awesome. I also really like how simple some of your photographs are, numbers 7, 6, 5 and 16 were all made into something bigger and better by the way you chose to capture them. You have really hit the vintage/memory with them! Great work! My POW is going to be number 5, I thoroughly enjoy the emotion that you have captured within this photograph while also staying on topic. The photograph is full of happiness through a gate. When I think about this photograph I relate it to school. We are all the photographer while taking this course at temple university and on the other side of the pretty white railing, we will have the joy that you have captured in just one photograph. I love it, I absolutely love it! Great work as always.

  5. Debora,
I really enjoyed your set of photographs for this topic. You seemed to have grasped the concept of memory/vintage very well. Some of my favorites are; 1, 3, 5, and 15. Although my POW is going to 1. I enjoy the dark feel is gives off. The cross, the dark tone, and the clouds hovering make the picture feel very old and eerie, I like it! The angle of the picture is also great. It feels like you were right under the building and looking straight up to the sky.
    Great set!

  6. Very interesting set here! I really like the portrait of the kid in number 4. My other favorites were 1, 13 and 14.What is going on in 13 and 14? Is that old photos you have that you compared with the present state of the shot? If so that's an excellent idea and even better execution on making it work. With that being said my POW vote will be number 13!

  7. Deb,

You did a really nice job with these photographs. My favorites are your first two, though I am going to vote #1 as your POW. I love the haunted look of the church with the dark, ominous shadows casting over it. Your self-portrait was interesting as well and I'm wondering how you managed to take that. Also- how did you do #13? It's looks like one photograph over another.

  8. Debora- You have an awesome set! My POW pick for you would be #1. It kinda reminds me of a medieval church or something like that. The anatomy of the structure is very intricate and detailed in itself, but the way you edited it gives of the vintage-y feel. I wanna know what the inside looks like!

  9. Debora -

Great work!! You had some very interesting photos this week which definitely captured the theme of this critique. 13 and 14 really caught my eye in particular - they are so creative!. Your self portraits are also really nice. My pick for POW would have to be 4. I love the composition and the look on the little boys face.

  10. You did really well this week, I enjoyed looking at all of your photos. I think the two pictures of the old photo in front of the actual space is awesome! I almost would have liked to see your had holding it just so that It could get some reference. Now that I think about it I am not even positive that it is and old picture over actual space but that's what it looked like the first time I saw it. Your also really good at over laying pictures. You do it in a way that makes you stop and look at it for awhile. I really likes this set but I have to say that number 13 is my favorite. Way to go!
