Hi Ross, you've got a unique set of photographs here. It is clear that you took this assignment to the next level and utilized many different techniques in order to extend the viewers sight. My favorite of the bunch would have to be number 4, for sure. But number 1 & 5 also have a certain appeal to me.
The amount of detail you were able to capture in the fly is great. I feel like I am right there looking at it, even though that is physically impossible. The human eye does have its limits. It appears that you blurred the area surrounding the fly, which aids in drawing more attention to the subject. Being able to see so much detail in the wings is my favorite part of the entire photograph.
Ross, I am always interested in seeing your photos. You have a unique eye. My favorite photo from your set is #13. It stands out from your others for a couple reasons. One reason being the angle of looking down from above - birds eye. This was a great choice and chance to make for a more interesting photo. The way the people are blurred really gives this a moving feel and tells a story. The way the people walking are in relation to the individuals sitting makes me think about the importance of having to take a moment out of our daily hustle and bustle. Sit down and enjoy the moment! The individuals that are sitting seem to be enjoying the moment but for those walking it seems as though the moment came and went very quickly. I always find myself hurrying on to do what's next. Great use of slow shutter!
Hi Ross, Great set of photos. The fly was my front runner for POW, the detail and yet simplicity of it, I love. Then I looked close at #3, you manged to get a vertical panorama and a slow shutter speed! I didn't notice the train in the background until I looked close. This pictured seemed to capture everything that this crit was looking for. I would have to go with #3 for my POW. Great Job.
I agree, you have a really interesting perspective. My favorite here is #13 because of the unique angle and great use of slow shutter speed. It really brought the photograph to life. Nice job!
Ross, I enjoyed the fish eye. My friend bought a lens that she puts on the outside of her phone but I think they also have an app for it as well. This technique gave your photos an interesting feeling and not many people used it so it was nice to see. I also enjoyed some of you r shutter speed shots. I found it was hard for me to do this cause the while picture would come out a little blurry but in number 13 and your first self portrait I fell as though you did this well. Number 15 just game me a feeling of busy life on campus and you took the photo from an interesting vantage point. I think my POW would have to be 15. Nice job this week!
Ross, I really liked #2 out of your set. The extended seeing enlarges the water droplets, and I don't think it would be as interesting of a photo without this technique. It makes me wonder what the droplets are collected on, and how big they really are. I also like #4. It also uses the extended seeing effect to enlarge the fly and really see the details of it. That photo also has a great use of color. Great job here!
Hey Ross 14 was my favorite and has my vote as the POW. The writing is clearly focused and is just such a weird phrase that made it extremely interesting to me. I also like the extended sight with the people and the cars in the background going about their normal routine with no idea the shot was taken. Overall I think you had a lot of good shots and captured the dynamics of the assignment. Well done.
#3 is my favorite out of the group. I don't know what some of these images are of but I don't mind. #13 is a good slow exposure shot. You have a pretty consistent group of images here. The only thing I would say is try and experiment more for the self portraits.
My vote for POW is #10. I love how the figures seem like ghosts. My only qualm about this photo is that I can tell that it is Gladfelter! A lot of your photos are on Temple's campus which I totally get because we're on campus so often. Overall, good job.
Hi Ross! I like you approach with this topic. You have a wide variety of subjects and techniques. My favorite picture goes to photo #5. Although it is just the sky but you managed to let us see this view a little differently. The photo makes me feel lost in a daze and I like that. It looks like there was a fish eye lens used so I would be curious to know how the photo was captured. I also enjoy how the photo is frame but the tree lines. It lets the eye wander around the picture. Very pleasing photo, good job Ross!
